Balsamroot & Lupines

Northwest Balsamroot
& Broadleaf Lupines

In mid-April the hillside of the Columbia Gorge are often bright shades of yellow and blue with these two common wildflowers: Northwest Balsamroot [Balsamorhiza deltoidea] and Broadleaf Lupine [Lupinus latifolius]. This group of flowers under Ponderosa Pines was photographed on the Oregon side of the Columbia Gorge National Scenic Area near Rowena.
