Pink Lady's Slipper

Pink Lady's Slipper

Pink Lady's Slipper, Cypripedium acaule, is one of the showiest of the North American terrestrial orchids, and one of the hardest to find in my experience. It grows in isolated groups in the northeast and upper midwest. I was fortunate to be guided to this clump on a hillside above the Greenbrier River in the Monongahela National Forest.
