Silky Balsamroot

Silky Balsamroot

Silky Balsamroot, Balsamorhiza sericea, is one of a handful of Balsamroots. Their flowers are all similar, but the leaves on this species are covered in tiny hairs, giving it a silky feel and hence the common name. These blossoms were growing on dry soil in the Siskiou National Forest near O'Brien. The range of Silky Balsamroot is limited to California and Oregon.
