Bee Balm

Bee Balm

As the name suggests, Bee Balm is popular with bees. It is also a prime food plant for butterflies and hummingbirds. This species, Monarda didyma, is native to the eastern United States, but is also commonly planted in gardens. I made this photograph in a West Virginia garden in mid-summer.
