Subalpine FirThis Subalpine Fir, Abies lasiocarpa, is growing on top of Winchester Peak in Mt. Baker-Snoqualmie National Forest. Mt. Baker is in the background. Subalpine Fir is a tough species that grows in high elevation locations, often buried under deep snow each winter. Like all true firs, its cones stand upright on upper branches. |
