Raccoon Foraging for Food

Raccoon Foraging at Low Tide

This Raccoon, Procyon lotor, is using its forepaws to search for shellfish under the kelp and sea grasses in tide pools at Sand Point in Olympic National Park. Either this animal, or his cousins, was a regular visitor to our campsite. Coons may be cute, but they're also notorious camp robbers.
