Douglas' Squirrel

Douglas' Squirrel

Douglas' Squirrel, Tamiasciurus douglasii, is the common squirrel in Pacific Northwest forests. It can usually be heard scampering among the branches of conifers high overhead, cutting off cones which fall to the ground to be collected later. This individual was enlarging the hole in a nesting box at Reifel Migratory Bird Sanctuary at the mouth of the Fraser River in British Columbia.
