An autumn snowfall left just a little snow on Artist's Ridge on this brilliant
October day. The trees are Mountain Hemlocks and the red-orange foliage is huckleberries,
a favorite food for both black bears and humans.
By the end of February this vantage point for Mt. Baker is buried under nearly
30 feet of snow.
