Whatcom Places

Bridge at Whatcom Falls, SummerThe title of this group of images comes from a book of the same name, Whatcom Places, published in 1997 by the Whatcom Land Trust. I contributed 18 photographs to the book, most of which are included in these on-line pages. Many other individuals also contributed to this volume because we truly care about the place we call home.

"Whatcom Places honors beauty of landscape, fertility of soil, and the mystery of nature as seen by more than a dozen outstanding photographers; we hope they inspire a sense of belonging and respect for the land. The book acknowledges a few of the many caring people who have acted out of a generosity of spirit toward the future. And, finally, it seeks to capture a feeling for place -- 'if you don't know where you are, you don't know who you are'--and to convey the essence of patriotism, the love of one's homeland." --Whatcom Places introduction
